Cardinals Win 3rd Straight

The cardinals traveled to Kearney last night and came home with a win 72-65. This is their third straight win after beat Grandview last Friday 86-78 and Platte County last Tuesday 87-40. Last night Marquan Chaney led the Cardinals in scoring with 22 points. He also had 6 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. JC Johnson also contributed 21 points, 6 assists, and 1 steal. The cardinals were outrebounded by 12, but forced Kearney to 18 turnovers. The cardinals must win their next two conferences games @ Liberty North and @ Winnetonka in order to share the Conference Championship. They play @ Liberty North this Friday starting @ 8pm.

Cardinals Season Update

The cardinals are now 9-10 on the season. After beating Grandview on 1/25/13 and winning 77-76, the cards played vs. Rock Bridge and lost 48-46. The following game was @ home against Platte County in which the Cardinals won 87-40. Tonight the Cardinals will travel to Grandview to decide in a must win for the #2 seed in districts. Lady Cardinals Defeat Grandview 47-29 1/14/13

Raytown South Lady Cardinals defeated Grandview Bulldogs 47-29. After a 6-5 Grandview first quarter that ended in a Devin Settle 3pointer, both teams boosted their scoring.
Top scorer for Raytown South was Diamond White, for Grandview, Simone Jordan.
In earlier JV action, Grandview debated Raytown South 36-31.
The Lady Cards next opponent is Fort Osage at home, 1/15/13.

Cardinals fall to 4-6 with loss to Blue Springs

The cardinals lost their home against Blue Springs 69-63 last Friday. Kalan Tucker lead scoring with 18 points on 8-10 shooting. JC Johnson also had 14 points, 6 assists and Tyrone Gibbs contributed 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. The Cardinals play Lee’s Summit in the opening round of the Culver’s tournament @ 8:30 on 1/14/13.

Cardinals Take 5th Place in the Normandy Holiday Invitational. Gibbs named to All-Tournament Team

The Cardinals traveled to St. Louis during the holidays to play in the longest running holiday basketball tournament at the 78th Annual Normandy Holiday Invitational. Their first opponent was College Prep of Madison (STL). The Cardinals had 25 turnovers and was outscored 24-3 in the 3rd quarter as the Cardinals lose 65-43. Tyrone Gibbs led the Cards with 15 pts, 9 rebounds, 5 blocks.

In their second game Ray South played Hazelwood East (STL). The cardinals used a huge 23-9 3rd quarter to beat the Spartans 59-52. Tyrone Gibbs had 19 pts, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists to lead the way. JC Johnson also had 13 pts and 7 assists.

In the Consolation Bracket Championship Ray South played McCluer South-Berkeley (STL). The Cardinals were up 38-12 at halftime and never looked back. Kalan Tucker lead the Cardinals with 16 pts, 6 rebounds on 8 of 13 shooting. Tyrone Gibbs also added 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Tyrone Gibbs was selected to the All Tournament Team.

Raytown South's next game is January 11th @ Home vs. Blue Springs. Game time is 7 pm.

Cardinals fall 78-63 to Rockhurst

The Cardinals came out flat-footed and it showed tonight against Rockhurst. At halftime, the Hawklets were out to a 38-20 lead. Although the Cardinals outscored Rockhurst in the second half, the slow started by Raytown South helped Rockhurst win by 15. JC Johnson lead the Cardinals in scoring with 22 points. He also added 6 assists, 2 steals and made 5 out of 6 free throws. The next game for the Cardinals is December 26th at the Normandy Holiday Invitational in St. Louis Missouri. Cardinals fall short in double OT @ Hy-Vee Shoutout

Raytown South lose in 2 OT to Olathe East 73-71. Tyrone Gibbs led the way for the cardinals with 25 points and 7 rebounds in only 25 minutes. He sat out the 4th quarter and both overtimes with an injury.

JC Johnson followed up with 18 points an 6 assists.

Next game for the Cardinals is next Friday Dec 21st at home against Rockhurst.
